PEP operates at the event CAP'TRONIC 2012

Partnership HB-therm and PEP

In order to meet the needs of our customers to heat tools to over 140 °C, PEP has forged a strong partnership with HB-Therm which provides to PEP ‘platform 5 Temperature Control Units. The HB-Therm equipment allow a rising temperature of the water at 180 ° C, while having an alarm system monitoring where the temperatures measured are derived from the recommended temperature window. Equipped with the thermoregulatory flow meters, temperature control unit can control each circuit in real-time and monitoring many parameters such as temperature input and output of the control unit, power control, pressures and flow rates. Tested on our platform as part of the research project NewPIM, the device has recovered, on USB support, all data on selected parameters.

The objective of the IMPRESS project is to facilitate the development of new manufacturing routes of micro/nano-scale feature manufacturing by implementing a complete technology platform. IMPRESS targets the development of a technological injection moulding platform for serial production of plastic components incorporating micro or nano scale functional features.

Plateform equipment :

• A two-shot full electric injectioncompression moulding machine developed by Billion, with a maximum clamping force of 200 T.

• A vacuum unit, using the Fondarex® technology: it rst applies vacuum in a 20 L tank. Then, thanks to the signal from a sensor or the machine, the vacuum valve is switched to evacuate air from cavities and runner, in few milliseconds (i.e. without affect on the cycle time).

• Two rapid heat and cool technologies driven by the injection moulding machine

Roctool® induction technology: the tool surface is rapidly heated by induction thanks to internal inductors.
GWK® technology: it combines internal ceramic heaters with optimized cooling channels made by strato-conception.

Technical day - "Multi material injection"

Following the success of the JT “Molds for a competitive plastics industry”, held on April 1^st 2010 at the PEP, a new technical day will be held on the 6 of October 2011 to present the multi material injection.

The multi material injection booming, solves various issues : aesthetics, functional, sensorials and/or economics.

This day will be an opportunity to discover technical solutions, presses and tools through presentations and demonstrations inside the PEP (Bellignat).

Like the previous edition, which was an opportunity for Platinno molders to present their latest innovations, this edition will enable members of the tooling innovation platform to demonstrate their knowledge and skills through conferences and demonstrations.

With their strong experience, Platinno members will present you the objectives of the platform: the exchange of technologies and skills, the trainings, the use of advanced means of design, trials, manufacturing and machining, the encouragement of innovations through the participation to collaborative projects of development or transfer…

The new PEP’s website, www.platinno.fr, wants to be informative and interactive. It aims to present the news of the platform and the services offered to molders members. Many contents and information are available to users who can discover the fields of action of Platinno and innovations made by members of the platform.

You will also find an online presentation page of each member of the consortium and its last innovations.

Members also have a private space where they can download personalized contents.

FIP 2011: positive results for PEP

From 24th to 27th of May 2011, PEP – Plastics Technical Center, participated to the FIP exhibition (Forum International de la Plasturgie) in Lyon Eurexpo.

PEP was present on the stand D54 in the Plastics Innovation Space with the Plastic Ecodesign Center, the INSA of Lyon, the Communauté de Communes d’Oyonnax and Plastipolis.

PEP on the FIP:

More than 80 contacts
Fifty developments projects for products, processes and toolings or materials
Many companies ineresting in our technical days to come

The sectors which asked us the more:

Prime producers,
Material suppliers,
Processors,
Consulting engineers and consultants,

The new Plastronics PEP Business Unit especially visitors and generated many requests.

Follow-up actions are already undertaken to transform the contacts made during this event into concrete projects for PEP.

Join the technical day "Conception et optimisation numérique en plasturgie/Design and numerical optimisation in plastics" held 30th of June 2011 at PEP - Plastics Technical Center in Bellignat.

The objective of the Technical Day will be to present the optimization technologies and the latest developments in digital simulation tools associated. Concrete examples of applications in the plastics industry will be presented and stands of interactive demonstrations will be led by the editors to show the capabilities of these technologies.
